All over the place, we hear people talking about Industry 4.0, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, etc. Particularly, despite the impact of Covid-19 which affects almost all industries, the IT industry still gained remarkable achievements with high turnover. Particularly in Vietnam, IT applications are often developed in the fields of finance & banking, e-commerce and services. Also, it is forecasted that there will be a high demand for IT personnel in the time to come.
Within the given context, each and every university that offers the IT training program is also planning out different education orientations and objectives. Some universities put their focus on scientific research and academia, whilst some are application-oriented. This various orientations, hence, will be able to meet the diverse needs of the labor market and students can easily get themselves acquainted with work without retraining. Therefore, you should always opt for schools and majors based on the career orientation of your own choice.
According to Dr. Phong Le, Dean of HSU FIT, HSU aims to build an application-oriented educational framework on the basis of business needs. HSU has established partnership and cooperation with leading enterprises in the IT field. Throughout the curriculum, in addition to the prerequisite subjects, students will also receive training from the affiliated units. As a result, students will be able to frequently accumulate practical experiences in the IT field. In the near future, it is expected that students will undergo 2 semester internships at the premises of HSU business partners, which will provide HSU IT students with more job opportunities.
Essential competencies of an IT students
Students with competent mathematical knowledge, logical thinking and English proficiency will have certain advantages in pursuing the IT career path. Especially at HSU, due to its application-oriented education framework, the university always carries out special training methods to support students as much as possible in practically applying the knowledge of each subject, i.e., teaching math-integrated programming, teaching with hands-on and vivid methods, etc.
In addition, HSU has a team of academic advisors and lecturers to monitor and support its students in the best possible way. However, besides the support from the university and the lecturers, the IT students themselves must hone their will of self-studying to continuously expand their own horizons. With a tremendous IT knowledge resource, students need to build a plan for self-studying to actively enhance their profession and improve their overall knowledge.
