Through the survey activity, the project members have gained a better understanding about the community where they would work, and were able to identify the children’s needs to learn about STEAM. The lessons will focus on the fields of nutrition and health, energy, nature, mathematics, science, and arts.
This activity has brought to the STEAM-up Crew members valuable experience in approaching children and collecting feedback from them to improve the STEAM lessons.
In particular, STEAM-up Crew has designed a special survey which helped the underprivileged children in the two communities vote more easily.
Based on the philosophy of combining A (Arts) into S (Science), T (Technology), E (Engineering) and M (Mathematics) to create flexibility in transferring knowledge, the project members have designed an original survey using lively pictures and explained the lesson content by a simple language. As a result, the children were very impressed that they voted for the lessons excitingly.
“For each different age, we must have an appropriate approach to get the reliable answer and meet the objective of the survey.” (Do Khac Nha Van, STEAM-up Crew member, 3rd year student of Marketing)
"The form and content of transferring scientific knowledge through STEAM, as well as such concise and understandable words have helped children in the community to receive and interact easily with the group." (Vo Tuyet Trinh, STEAM-up Crew member, 3rd year student of English Linguistics)
